TRINITY CENTER, Calif. — The Hobel Transfer Site at 173 Hobel Dump Road provides residents of the Trinity Center area with a place to dispose of household waste, eligible clean brush, used motor oil and certain electronics. Trinity County lists service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with the facility closed Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and county-observed holidays.

Hours can change with the season

The individual county facility page lists 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the county’s general solid-waste schedule says its summer adjustment runs through September 30 and that non-summer hours are typically 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. These two official pages are not perfectly synchronized. Because the current date is in November, customers should confirm opening and closing times with the county before loading a vehicle, instead of relying on the facility-page summer hours.

Trinity County’s solid-waste office can provide current hours at 530-623-1326, extension 9200. A gate closing time is not permission to start unloading then: the county warns that late arrivals may be turned away if the load cannot be safely unloaded before closing.

Know which items are accepted

The Hobel site lists household waste, clean brush up to four inches in diameter, drained used-oil filters and motor oil, electronic waste and universal waste including batteries and fluorescent tubes. Accepted materials are not necessarily free; verify fees. Noxious weeds are not accepted as ordinary clean brush, and chemically treated wood must use an appropriate separate disposal method rather than being placed in regular transfer-site loads.

For a rural community with long distances to alternate facilities, verifying rules before loading heavy or hazardous materials can avoid a wasted trip.
